Dr Charlotte R. Stoner BSc Hons, FHEA, CPsychol, PhD

Senior Lecturer in Psychology

Charlotte Stoner is currently a Senior Lecturer in Psychology, having joined the 糖心Vlog as a Lecturer in Psychology in May 2020. Charlotte received her PhD from University College London (UCL) in 2017 and has previously held roles at UCL and North East London NHS Foundation Trust.

Her professional interests are in applied positive psychology approaches to dementia and neurodegenerative diseases including the development and evaluation of outcome measures, psychosocial interventions, and implementation research.

Charlotte is currently the Programme Lead for the BSc Psychology with Counselling degree and lectures on modules across levels 4, 5 and 6 on undergraduate and post-graduate psychology programmes.

Outside of teaching, Charlotte is the Principal Investigator for the ‘No one left to cope alone: development of a post-diagnostic Intervention to support people newly diagnosed with Dementia (NOLA)’ project. This two-year National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) funded research study seeks to develop a new intervention to support people who have just received a diagnosis of dementia.

Research / Scholarly interests

Charlotte’s research interests include psychometrics, positive psychology, psychosocial interventions, and implementation research. She primarily works with people living with dementia in these areas. Currently, Charlotte leads the NOLA project, which seeks to develop a post-diagnostic intervention for people who have just received a diagnosis of dementia.

As secondary research, Charlotte is involved in psychosocial research including the evaluation of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) for people living with dementia in the UK and around the world.
