Unsung Hero Award

We all know someone whose dedication to their work and colleagues or students shines through everything they do.

This award is for a colleague who has positively enhanced the lives of staff, students or others; who works quietly behind the scenes with a positive attitude, a willingness to help in whatever capacity necessary and a commitment in doing so to a high standard, in line with our values.

Please tell us about the work of your nominee, how it contributes to your team and our university as a whole, and what it means to you and your colleagues.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • All staff are eligible to be nominated.
  • Nominations can be made by any Greenwich staff member.
  • This award is open to individuals.
  • Please do not nominate yourself. Self nominations will not be summitted to the judges.

This nomination must be completed by 11.59pm 16 May 2025.

Nomination Information 

You may nominate an individual to receive an award for the Unsung Hero Award.  Please don’t feel constrained by these examples, but you might like to recognise staff for demonstrating:

  • Evidence of championing Greenwich values in everything they do.
  • Evidence of how collaborative working contributes to Greenwich and beyond with a work/initiative or project.
  • Evidence of this person making a difference, supporting colleagues or team members.
  • Evidence of this person working on a project/work/ initiative beyond their normal job role to support community, EDI, students, staff and beyond.
