Windows 10 will reach its end of life in October 2025. This significant change will impact all staff, students, and researchers. To ensure a smooth transition, ILS are collaborating closely with all Faculties and Directorates. This is a major initiative, and we will need everyone's support and cooperation to meet our deadline.
What do I need to do?
Our IT assets are now managed centrally, and as part of this process, we are continuing to replace staff PCs with Intune laptops and docks. If you do not yet have an InTune laptop or if your current laptop is more than six years old, please . Additionally, you can help by returning any outdated hardware that you have.
With a target of updating or replacing around 100 staff devices per month, your cooperation is crucial.
What happens if we don’t meet the deadline?
Due to security concerns, Windows 10 devices will not be able to connect to the network once support ends. Please note that any data stored on local hard drives of Windows 10 machines will not be backed up, and data lost due to improper storage will not be recoverable. Please refer to the university's policy for secure data handling
Sustainability is a priority for us, and we want to minimize our environmental impact. Wherever possible, we will reuse PCs and upgrade them to Windows 11 to support the university’s sustainability policy.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work through this essential transition.
